In the natural hair realm, those with looser curl patterns are often portrayed as the face of the community. When it comes to imagery of women with kinkier textures, representation is either lackluster or nonexistent.

But despite this, type 4 hair is here and thriving. While having reputation for being the hardest texture to manage, type 4 hair holds its own unique joy and beauty — as all textures do. In an essay by Black Girl Long Hair, one writer captures the essence of celebrating type 4 hair.

For some, it is probably also the least desired hair type. I can attest to how difficult it can be to deal with type 4 hair, and I could continue listing a million reasons why my type 4 hair is a headache to deal with. However, before I start hating on what God gave me, I have to take a moment to show my hair some love.
