An Eventful Friday in Brooklyn

An Eventful Friday in Brooklyn

This past Friday was the perfect end to a laborious week; productive and eventful. Almost too eventful. Ha! Okay, let me rewind...I started the day off with a morning run (2.5 miles, I'm trying y'all) blasting that new "Everything Is Love" album from The Carters, and some fresh juice from my favorite neighborhood juicery, Juices For Life. After that, it was time to get to work on some new Leafed Beauty product additions; my highly anticipated shampoo bars. I have been so excited about launching these that I was heartbroken when some of the KEY raw materials didn't arrive on time. But luckily, the shipment gods were shining down on me that day (Jeff Bezos really is the plug ::prayer hands::) and I was able to get started making my beloved bars. I made two different versions; a lavender-lime bar made with Babassu Oil, and a geranium-orange made with coconut oil. This was the first step in getting prepared for every curly girl's favorite holiday, aka Curl Fest.

Up next on my Friday agenda was date night with the beau. We both absolutely love music and being surrounded by nature, so Celebrate Brooklyn's Concert series was a perfect choice to jumpstart our weekend. What I appreciate most about Celebrate Brooklyn is that it's a donation based concert series, located in Prospect Park, which usually brings together a diverse crowd of people who are truly there for the love of music. Paul Beaubrun, a Haitian guitarist/singer was the first act of the evening. Although I hadn't heard of him before, I was pleasantly surprised by how he moved the audience. He had everyone in my row singing "AYIBOBO!" (please don't ask me what it means...) The headlining act was R+R=NOW,  a group of incredibly talented jazz musicians assembled by Grammy award-winning Robert Glasper. Each musician brought their own special style to the stage to create an evening to remember. I especially enjoyed the way each musician had time on stage to highlight their individual talents.

After grooving in the audience, the beau and I were on such a high that we weren't quite ready for the night to end. We decided to grab a nightcap at Sweet Chick before turning in. Well, one drink turned into two drinks...and a shot (the bartender made us do it, I promise!)  Needless to say, we were feeling relaxed and ready to call it a night. Maybe too relaxed. So relaxed that the beau left his phone in the Uber and we spent about an hour trying to contact him to get it back (I knew we shouldn't have had that shot. Smh)  Nevertheless...we did get the phone back and is well with the world. So that, ladies and gentlemen, is my recap of my productive AND quite eventful Friday takeover. I hope you enjoyed watching it all unfold! Until next time : )

XOXO
