Simplistic Beauty with Kenya Meon
For this CRWN Muse, muted tones, grounding natural life and brown skin are the cornerstone of her work. Kenya Meon, a Macon, Georgia-born photography fell in love with photography for the freedom, and in 2010, moved to Atlanta to pursue the arts.
Throughout the course of her timeline takeover she shared poetic captions celebrating the black woman:
“My appreciation for women is boundless
A vessel of warmth and reassurance
A source of unfiltered light
Unashamed to laugh in the face of anyone foolish enough to
She also shared intricacies of capturing as a female photographer, the anxieties that can follow the spirit into image-making and the the romanticism of southern living writing odes to her hometown, including delicate images of flora and foliage and sending sweet reminders to breathe saying, “I found that through several different methods to calmness, sometimes all your body wants is for you to lift your head to the clouds, take a deep breath, and let go.”
We’re so thankful for Kenya for shadowing our timeline with this serene images of black feminine beauty.
