CRWN on the Move: TheBOM Summer 2017 in Manhattan
If you’ve been melanin-blessed and have yet to experience that warm, tingly, invigorating feeling of buying something from the hands of a Black business owner, you’re REALLY missing out. There’s nothing like knowing you’re contributing to the progression of the Black community and its economy, first hand.
CRWN was honored to experience the epitome of this exchange once again at The Black Owned Market Place’s summer pop-up this past Saturday. Founded by Michelle Dalzon, theBOM was born to increase the circulation of the Black dollar by creating a destination where people can gain exposure to, and shop conveniently with Black brands.
We joined forces with theBOM squad to capture what was an even grander showcasing of Black-owned prowess. And this wasn’t your average pop-up shop. The event represented the action needed to be taken against the simultaneously disturbing resurgence of white supremacy that occurred this past weekend. Customers, friends, family and the like were welcomed into an intimate community gathering, marked by camaraderie. Guests had a chance to test out the newest must-have fall lip colors from vegan and cruelty-free line Gold Label Cosmetics; get glowed-up by the likes of returning vendor, skin BUTTR; create custom boxes filled with the latest in menswear must-have accessories with G + Co Apparel; be taken away by the scents of lemon, vanilla, sage and more courtesy of another returning vendor, Lit BKLYN; live painting by Debra Cartwright; delicious sweet plantains from Essie Spice, and much, much more. You just see for yourself by scrolling through our photo highlights below and make a note to be in attendance at the next pop-up event!
