CRWN Talks to LinkedIn About Creating Platforms Where We Can See Ourselves
CRWN's co-founder, Lindsey, sat down with Justin Jackson of LinkedIn (now over at Blavity) to discuss why she and Nkrumah started the publication:
I want us...to really see ourselves for the first time. I think, when you don't see yourself when you open [a magazine] or on TV; when you feel like you have to alter or change yourself, you don't feel powerful. It's more than just beauty and aesthetics. I want young women to say, 'my hair is beautiful,' no matter what — kinky, curly, mixed — whatever they have. Because then they grow up with the confidence in their abilities, in the value that they offer this world... And that's really what I want the legacy to be.
