CRWN On The Move: The Root's Young Fabulous and Female in LA
Last week CRWN sponsored The Root's Young Fabulous and Female event and our LA team was in the house to cover it all! The event was held at Siren's Studios in Hollywood, and featured an all-star panel of Black women in entertainment and business.
The panel was moderated by Nina Parker who is best known as the host of VH1's Love & Hip Hop, and featured TV veteran Mara Brock Akil, CBS senior vice president of Entertainment Diversity & Communications Tiffany Smith-Anoa’i; producer of For Colored Girls Nzingha Stewart; LA84 President & CEO Renata Simril; and NBC Universal senior counsel Gail Huggins Porter.
Though the room was packed with power players these ladies didn't have a pretentious bone in their body. They gave of themselves freely, and imparted their pearls of wisdom on topics ranging from breaking into your career to self care. Post-panel guests were able to mingle with each other as well as the speakers, and the interaction was inspiring. Women of all complexions, body types, and age ranges came together to exchange knowledge, compliments, and business cards. It was an overwhelming display of sisterhood and everyone left feeling like somebody.
